The last thing any dad wants to see is their young child feeling embarrassed and upset. Following his daughter’s unfortunate incident at school, doting father Ben Soward went to touching lengths to comfort his daughter by embarrassing himself in equal measure. The incident began when Ben received a call from his wife Connie telling him that their young daughter Valerie, 6, was very upset after accidentally wetting herself at school.
The thoughtful father’s first concern was doing anything he could to alleviate his daughter’s embarrassment. Before heading to the school to collect her, Ben poured water down his own trousers so that Valerie would have someone to share her embarrassment with. As they left school, both in the same boat, Ben asked Valerie if he could borrow her bag to cover up his mishap.
This touching gesture shown by a caring father worked a treat, and shortly after, any feeling of embarrassment was replaced with laughter and smiles. Valerie’s older sister was also moved by her dad’s actions and spoke about the situation in an interview with ABC 10.
Proud of how her dad handled the situation, Lucinda decided to share a picture of Valerie and Ben, after he came to collect her. Her tweet explaining the situation quickly spread over the internet and became viral, racking up over 63,000 retweets and 255,000 favorites.
Children are at the heart of Ben and Connie’s lives and the pair have a very nurturing disposition. The Soward clan consists of 11 children, with four adopted children. With so much practice at being a dad, it's not surprising that Ben knew exactly what to do to comfort his distressed daughter.

Despite his sexist comments, Eva made a lasting impression on young Jude, with him eventually admitting that she is “tough and strong like the Hulk.”
