Watch Out for These Ducks

Making Way for the Ducks

One of the reasons we all love the internet is because of sweet animal videos. Recently, one of the most adoring videos around made it online. Safe to say, we have found it terribly difficult to stop hitting the repeat button and tear our eyes from the screen.

The video in question? It was a video where a mother duck and her flock of ducklings took a quick detour on a Tuesday morning. They hatched in the courtyard and were making their way to the nearby pond with their first steps. To do this, they went through the school and its corridors - that were lined with little enthralled children!

The video shows over 500 students, sitting cross-legged along the hallway and the playground. The joy in their faces was clearly visible in the video as the mother duck and her 10 ducklings waddled past without any fear at all!

According to Principal Sheila Kukstis, this event is a yearly tradition at the school and is considered a rite of spring for all the students at Glover Elementary School. The school includes students from elementary grade all the way to fifth grade.

Apparently, it occurs every spring. The ducks make a nest in the interior courtyard of the school. When the ducklings hatch and are grown, they make their way to the nearby pond.

As one can see in the video, it’s a highly anticipated event with the whole school turning up to watch. It is very heartwarming watching all the little ducks venture into the world for the first time.

Another adoring fact is how happy and overjoyed the kids are at this rare and magical experience! The video was captured by Bill Driscoll, the school nurse’s nephew, said the principal.

Progress on the ducks is often noted throughout the summer by students who live near the pond. They are part of the community.

See What This Seagull Had in Its Mouth

Seagull Spotted with Stolen Dentures

Seagulls are among the most well-known birds around. That does not mean they are well-liked though. Infamous for being annoyingly pesky, they regularly steal snacks and shiny objects lying around. Sometimes seagulls find the gall to steal food right out of a person’s hand. Cookies, ice cream, sandwiches - none of it is safe at the beach. However, this seagull here puts many of the other birds to shame. Spotted flying over Newton Abbot, England, the seagull had someone’s dentures in its beak! The photos were shared on Spotted Newton Abbot, a page on Facebook. The photo had a caption attached to it, saying "Hi Spotted Newton Abbot, can you please post this picture below. Someone's false teeth were found on a bench on Torquay Harbour at lunchtime. Unfortunately, anyone missing them will need to contact the seagull as he flew away with them!"

We wish we knew more about the circumstances behind this image but unfortunately that’s all that’s known. We have so many questions here. Who was the poor soul who lost their dentures to a seagull? What was his reaction upon discovering what happened to his dentures? Why did the seagull even want the dentures in the first place? A quick look online shows that this is not even the first instance of seagulls striking on dentures. From Australia to America, there are many stories of these winged thieves making away with people’s dentures. We are not entirely sure what appeal they see with it. I guess they don’t call them bird brains for nothing! The key lesson that you can take away from this is that you can’t trust a seagull - with anything. You never know when you are in their crosshairs so always keep an eye out when you are at the beach.
